Today we are reviewing some budget options from 710 Labs: Bad Apple #7 (Tier 3) & Rick James #3 (2nd Press).
Bad Apple #7 (Tier 3) purchased at Nature’s Remedy for $35.
Rick James #3 (2nd Press) purchased at King of Budz for $30.
710 Labs
We’ve reviewed 710 Labs a few times now:
- Cherry Zest #4 Persey flower.
- Odder Popz #17 (Tier 1) Persey rosin.
Check out those articles for a quick overview of the brand, their tier systems, as well as reviews.
Tier 3
Depending on the article you read from 710 Labs, you’ll get a slightly different definition of what their Tier 3 rosin is:
We don’t always knock it out of the park, but we’ll stand by Tier 3 product as clean, quality hash. Tier 3 may not have the most robust flavor, but it will taste smooth and the effect will be potent. - 710 Labs: Why Batch Pricing
The 710 Labs staples from our genetic library, with consistent flavor and quality. These batches are made from cultivars that we have dialed in over the years and provide a flavorful, clean smoke, but won’t have the most unique terpene profiles in our library. - 710 Labs: Batch Pricing
.. sometimes our Tier 3 products are simply large-yielders. Our most recent batch of Bootlyicious Living Soil Persy Badder in CA is a prime example of a high-yielder that tasted amazing but was nonetheless relegated to Tier 3. These are a true treat for those of us searching for the best terps on a budget. - 710 Labs: Terps + Tiers: How to Shop
Either way, this appears to be in the lower middle of the pack in terms of 710’s rosin product line:
- Persey
- Tier 1
- Tier 2
- Tier 3
- Tier 4
- 2nd Press.
2nd Press
There is almost nothing on 710 Lab’s website about their 2nd Press product, aside from it being available.
When rosin is “squished” or pressed during the 1st Press, there remains additional product available to be pressed again. This is 2nd Press.
The resulting product being inferior by it’s very nature, usually being darker in color and having less tasty terpenes.
This appears to be the worst (in quality) rosin product that 710 Labs offers. 😬

I love when a strain is true to it’s name!
I was impressed with this especially for the price.
There was a small step down in taste comparing to the Persey that I’ve had, but not as much as I would have expected.
The crystals still looked great and the Granny Smith apple taste was a hit for me.
Overall, this was a surprisingly solid offering:

👃 Smell

👅 Taste

- “Cached” taste.

Let’s start with the texture.
It’s a combination of bubblegum & molasses. It sticks like molasses. It stretches like bubble gum.
Honestly, the worst texture for handling that I’ve ever come across.
I actually left this out of the fridge, allowing the consistency to harden slightly, to make it more suitable to handle.
At first the taste reminded me of the Odder Popz #17 (Tier 1) Persey rosin, I reviewed earlier.
It had those nice tropical notes. However, they were muted.
And then I was hit with an unpleasant, what I’ll call “cached” taste.
It gave me vibes of hitting a dry herb vaporizer for a few hits too many.
Give this 2nd Press a second guess:
Middies 🥱
Outro
I’m glad I got to try some of 710’s budget options.
I learned a few things along the way:
- Tier 3 is a great budget pick and about half the price of Persey.
- 2nd Press isn’t worth it for me especially with Tier 3 only being a few bucks more.
The terps on the Persey are clearly better, but I’ll let you be the judge if it’s double as good based on price.
Try some Tier 3 if you haven’t and let me know what you think!
What are your favorite 710 budget picks?
