They limited this Zkittlez drop to 100, 7 gram jars.

Zkittlez (The Original Z)

The Original Z (popularly known as “Zkittlez”, aka “Skittles,” “Skittlz,” and “Island Skittles”) is an indica hybrid marijuana strain bred from an alleged mix of Grape Ape and Grapefruit that is crossed with another undisclosed strain. This sweet, tropical confection-flavored cultivar came to market in the 2010s. According to the story, the cultivar came from an individual dubbed Gas Station Bob. Working as Terp Hogz, the growers Fields and Tony Mendo popularized Z with the help of 3rd Gen Family’s Brandon Parker—growing the strain, entering it into contests, and making new crosses. The Original Z won 1st Place at the 2016 Emerald Cup, the 2023 King of Z Hill, and has placed in several Cannabis Cups in San Francisco and Michigan. Both Terp Hogz and 3rd Gen Fam—as well as other breeders—continue to refine the varietal. In 2023, Terp Hogz announced they will use of the name “The Original Z,” as part of a settlement with a candy company over alleged trademark infringement. This strain features chunky colas that explode in a spectrum of light-green hues and emit a sweet, tropical blend of fruit flavors. 👁️ Look

• Light colored beautiful nugs.
• Great breakdown.

👃 Smell

• Smells like Z terps with a hint of earthiness.
• Fruity, candy.

👅 Taste

• Gassy inhale.
• Light & fruity exhale.
• Smooth smoke.
• Taste fades, becomes earthy.

Rating

I thought these nugs looked and smelled great.

They had girth and the subtle, tropical Z terps, I’ve come to know and love.

The problem lies in the taste.

It is barely there and a shadow of what you’d expect from the smell.

What is there, fades quickly into a more general, earthy “weed” taste.

This may just be a fault in Z itself, I’ve never had lip smacking taste from the strain.

Maybe it’s best this was a limited drop, because this was:

Exotic Matter does a lot of limited drops, but this one seemed to be the MOST limited.

However, this limited drop also came with limited terps.

The jar it came in was sick though!

Exotic Matter also chose to make this drop sized at quarter quantities over the standard eighth.

A similar move to Pressure Pack and their Billie Jean drop.

It’s an interesting play, they could have also given 200 people the chance to try this in standard eighth size jars, instead of 100.

While I didn’t particularly care for this specific drop, I look forward to trying more in the future.

A lot of times, limited releases are limited because they are strains that aren’t top producers or crowd favorites.

There’s always a gamble in growing them.
