Gassiest of 2023 Awards - Best Budget Flower Brand
By Gas & Middies
I like to smoke the best of the best for this website. But sometimes, I’m ballin’ on a budget.
For this category, I wanted to award the best brands that have either deli or pre-pack flower available for $20 and under.
This seemed to be the best price point for affordable bud, that doesn’t sacrifice much on quality (if at all).
Obviously prices vary by location, but I can at least confirm in my area (Metro Detroit), I have found each of these brands at this price point.
The following brands prove that: budget bud doesn’t have to be boof!
Drumroll please 🥁
Best Budget Flower Brand
Honorable Mention: Glo
You might know them for their X-rated strain names like: Unicorn Poop, 2 Unicorns 1 Poop, Pink Pussy, Raw Dawg, Fish Breath, Skunk Ass, & Porn Nug.
Glo, is a brand that doesn’t try to be politically correct.
While this may deter some customers from trying their product, I’d say that would be a shame given what’s INSIDE of the flashy mylars.
Their flower is surprisingly good. While not everything hits, there are some sleepers in their lineup.
I see Glo products at House of Dank and King of Budz around me.
In the case of Glo, don’t judge the brand by what you see on the mylar!
Honorable Mention: Glacier Cannabis
Glacier is brand icier than Gucci Mane.
With artic strain names like: Blast Chiller & Cold Snap, they commit to their theme.
In my experience, Glacier hands out big nugs in their pre-packs.
They glisten. They look hand trimmed. All around, above average for the price.
Their Cold Snap was the first strain that caught my attention from them.
It had a nice menthol, icey taste (from The Menthol genetics) that mixed with the cookie flavors of the Biscotti.
House of Dank typically is where I find their stuff.
Glaciers typically move slow. But I don’t think these guys have any intention of slowing down in 2024.
3rd Place: Glorious Cannabis
Most people are probably familiar with Glorious Cannabis’s infused pre-rolls, but their flower is slept on.
In terms of pricing, this might be the cheapest you can get on the list. I’ve seen deals on ounces for around $100 sometimes.
But don’t let the low cost deter you.
Their First Class Funk is one of my favorite strains that they carry. It’s light, it’s funky, and it’s cheap.
Available in multiple places, I’ve gotten mine at King of Budz, Houe of Dank, & Puff around me.
You can find Glorious flower in many forms as well. Pre-pack, deli-style, & smalls.
Glorious is consistent & affordable.
Not much more you can ask of a budget buy.
2nd Place: Lightsky Farms
- Website
- Strains to try:
- Mac (Miracle Alien Cookie)
- Titty Sprinkles
- Sunkistz #17
Most people know about Lightsky Farms award winning cartridges, but they should also know about their flower.
Lightsky Farms sells their pre-packed flower as 4 gram, nitro sealed, plastic jars. So in terms of value, you’re getting an extra half of a gram over most brand’s standard 3.5 gram eighths.
Their Miracle Alien Cookie (MAC) & Electric Peanut Butter Cookie (EPBC) were my first experiences with Lightsky flower, and I’ve been a fan ever since.
I think their MAC grow is the best in the state AND it can be found for $20, which is pretty crazy.
Aside from their pre-packed jars, you can find Lightsky flower deli style. I’ve personally only found this at Shango locations.
But if you are able to find their deli, you’re in for a treat! You’ll get massive nugs with the same Lightsky quality you’re used to in pre-pack form.
Lightsky Farms made waves with their Titty Sprinkles in 2023 at the Zalympix. Also available for $20 or less.
Sunkistz is the newest strain I’ve had in their lineup (lookout for a review soon) and it tastes just like the soda/pop. It has quickly made it’s way into my strain rotation.
Lightsky Farms produces not only award winning flower, but offers it at reasonable budget prices.
That’s hard to match.
1st Place: Grown Rogue
- Website
- Strains to try:
- Blue Runtz
- Pink Lady
- Purple Octane
In terms of budget brands, Grown Rogue takes the cake!
Orginally from out West, Grown Rogue has come to the Michigan market with flames at reasonable prices.
Whether it’s their iconic Blue Runtz, Pink Lady, Purple Octane, Rotten Citrus, or Gary Patyon you’ll get almost a prototypical representation of each strain.
Grown Rogue flower is available in many options including: pre-pack, jars, & deli style.
I’m a huge fan of their deli style, but their pre-packs are no slouch either.
The fact of the matter is that Grown Rogue could charge more for their quality… but they don’t.
They’ve pretty much kept their price point since they’ve been in Michigan and stayed in their lane.
But that lane is doing alright.
Grown Rogue has been a consistent brand for me in terms of quality.
In fact, they’re made me change my mind about certain strains that I’ve shrugged off in the past (IE: Gary Payton), by just how good their rendition of it was.
Last year they took the strain: Sourdough and crossed it with various genetics to make: Pink Lady, Rotten Citrus, Hellcat, & Gary Payton 2 (GP2).
Their Sourdough is delicious on it’s own, so if you’re a fan be sure to check those out as well.
It’s safe to say, I’ll be loading up on Grown Rogue in 2024!
