Gassiest of 2023 Awards - Best Rosin
By Gas & Middies
We’ve covered the Gassiest of 2023 - Best Rosin Brands, but today we’re going to tackle the actual best rosin they produced.
Rosin in Michigan has been upping it’s game throughout the years.
Today we have dozens of brands to choose from, dropping hundreds of products a year.
We have new hype like full melt & piatella, but rosin is still a harbinger of quality in the concentrate space.
Narrowing down the list was daunting, but terps led the way.
Here are the top rosin products I had in 2023:
Drumroll please 🥁
Best Rosin
Honorable Mention: Eastside Alchemy x Voyage Bloom - Tiger Cake
Tiger Cake from Eastside Alchemy x Voyage Bloom was the rosin that introduced me to the full potential of rosin.
The smell was addicting like fresh baked, kiefy cookies. The consistency was near perfection.
But the taste, the taste kept me coming back.
It was cookies, but with a menthol kick!
I tried to savor the gram but, this might have been the fastest I’ve ever dabbed up a puck.
The only thing holding this back from the Top 5, was just fierce competition.
However, Tiger Cake will always hold a special place in my rosin Hall of Fame.
Honorable Mention: Ice Kream Hash Co. - Deadly Combo #60
The terps on Ice Kream Hash Co.’s Deadly Combo #60 are loud & polarizing.
Each whiff, a chemical concoction that burns your nose hairs (in a good way).
I could see the flavor being described as “pool terps”, but I’ve been swimming in them!
Some rosin made this list due to the frequency of me buying each strain. That was the case with this one.
The terps were unique and scratched a certain itch, when searching for a great dab.
If you like Headband, it’s in there somewhere!
This one is a personal favorite of mine, and I couldn’t keep it off the list.
5th Place: 710 Labs - Lemon Heads #4 x Randy Watzon #13 (Close Friends: Persy Batter)
710 Labs came to Michigan in 2023 and brought hype like no other.
I’ve argued before that their rosin can be stellar, if overpriced.
Their Close Friends is their crème de la crème of rosin. This was part of their The List drop, which was limited.
The terps on this were straight 🍋.
Super wet consistency, almost too wet.
The flavor was like breathing in lemons, with a lemon exhale.
710 Labs seemed to just liquify lemons for this drop.
The quality can’t be denied on this one.
If you’re a lemon head, this one’s for you.
4th Place: Peachy Hash & Co. - Moroccan Peaches
Moroccan Peaches by Peachy is to me one of their most signature flavors.
It brings peaches, like expected, but comes with a funkiness that makes it unforgetable.
I’ve criticized them in the past for being a bit dry, but this one was the wettest I’ve seen from them.
I love unique terps and Peachy delivered on this one!
Moroccan Peaches seems to be picking up quite the buzz at dispensaries.
So pick it up if you see it near you!
3rd Place: Ice Kream Hash Co. - Superboof
I’m a huge fan of Ice Kream Hash Co. as well as the strain Superboof, when you combine them, you get MAGIC! 🪄
Ice Kream Hash Co.’s Superboof is the near perfect concentrate representation of this strain.
The color and consistency are beautiful, and the taste puts you mentally, on a beach.
Ice Kream Hash Co. dropped a lot of flavors last year, but this one was one of the most memorable.
It really tied together everything that they do well.
Hoping this one becomes a mainstay in their product line.
2nd Place: The Fifth Age x Primo Danks - White Trufflez
White Truffle has to be one of the most addicting flavors around!
Fifth Age picked the right source in Primo Danks, by sourcing their flower for this collabo.
I must have bought five jars of this stuff last year! The earthy, sweet flavor kept me foraging for more!
White Truffle typically has great light colors and great consistency.
But The Fifth Age really dialed it in even more for their drop.
I’ve had a lot of White Truffle, but I keep coming back to this one.
1st Place: Eastside Alchemy x MattyBStackers - Permanent Marker
This one had it all!
- Permanent Marker, the strain of the year.
- Grown by the hottest collaborator of 2023: MattyBStackers.
- Squished by some of the best rosin producers in Michigan: Eastside Alchemy.
Put it all together and you get my rosin pick of the year.
Eastside Alchemy & MattyBStackers had a lot of drops in 2023, but this limited release was the standout.
The limited nature. The jar. The color. The consistency. The smell.
If you are a rosin head, this was the one to get in 2023.
It’s just one of those moments, where the stars aligned, and we got amazing rosin.
Eastside Alchemy & MattyBStackers have a lot in store for 2024, but we all know, this will be the one to beat!
