Gassiest of 2023 Awards - Best Rosin Brand
By Gas & Middies
Today, we are handing out the award for the best rosin brand!
I’ll be the first to say it, the rosin in Michigan in 2023 has been fire.
There have been some newcomer brands as well as some established out of state ones hitting the market.
We currently have quite the selection if I do say so myself.
Without further ado, let’s get to the winner:
Drumroll please 🥁
Best Rosin Brand
Honorable Mention: 710 Labs
- Website
- Strains to try:
- Lemon Heads #4 + Randy Watzon #13
- Juicy Cubes #11
- Bad Apple #7
While it may be controversial that this brand is on this list or that they are ranked so low.
I feel like 710 labs produces some quality rosin.
The main things bringing them down are their pricepoint and convoluted systems, including their tiering and The List buying process.
Trying their Lemon Heads #4 x Randy Watzon #13 rosin from their “Close Friends” tier, purchased from The List, I’ll admit it’s some of the best rosin I’ve had.
However for the price, I think the other brands on the list produce equal or better quality rosin.
710 doesn’t appear to be hype, but have an uphill battle at their pricepoint with the ever-increasing quality of rosin produced here in Michigan.
They’ll be an intesting one to watch this year.
Honorable Mention: Peachy Hash & Co.
Peachy Hash & Co. are new to the scene. But they are quickly winning rosin heads over for their high quality hash at reasonable prices.
My personal favorite from Peachy right now is their Morrocan Peaches. The funky peach flavors coat your tongue and leave you wanting to load up another glob.
I’ve heard great things about their Suberboof as well, just haven’t had a chance to try it yet.
My main ding against Peachy, is that their rosin ranges in consistency. While I’ve had some wet, creamy rosin, I’ve also had some drier Play-Doh like rosin from them as well.
It may be personal perference, but I prefer the wet stuff.
In such a short time, Peachy has made quite the name for itself in the market.
They seem to be going head-to-head with Ice Kream Hash Co. for the best rosin at their price range.
I’m looking forward to seeing what Peachy will deliver in 2024.
3rd Place: The Fifth Age
The Fifth Age are not new to the game, for years they were known for having some of the best rosin in the market.
However like some companies experience, they had a period with quality issues, due to their container hardware. This lead to much drier rosin then we’ve learned to expect to from this brand.
But I’m here to tell you, those issues seem to be long gone. They’ve since switched to new hardward, with what they say, provides the best seal around.
The Fifth Age rosin (now) is consistently some of the wettest rosin I’ve been able to find.
They source all of their material from third parties, which let’s them squish some of the best flower available in Michigan.
After rediscovering the brand with their Peach Rings, I was blown away by the consistency of the rosin as well as the flavorful gassy, peachy mouthfuls after each hit.
Being a huge fan of White Truffle, their White Trufflez is some of the best I’ve encountered. The Primo Danks flower really squishes into something magical on that one.
If you haven’t checked these guys out in awhile, give them another shot!
I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
2nd Place: Ice Kream Hash Co.
Ice Kream Hash Co. might be the most hyped rosin brand of 2023, but from my experience, they’re not overhyped.
With their Superboof winning me over from first dab, I’ve been a huge fan of the company.
After my recent interview with them, Ice Kream Hash Co. seem to be a brand full of good people on a solid mission.
Their rosin is almost exclusively found wet and at the perfect consistency.
And this year they’ve really ramped up their flavor repitoire, outside of the typical “cookie” flavors.
Add in a reasonable pricepoint, and you can see why this brand struggles to keep their rosin on the shelves.
The only thing really holding them back from the top spot were variety of strains & availability.
I can easily see that changing for 2024.
1st Place: Eastside Alchemy
- Strains to try:
- Permanent Marker
- Tiger Cake
- Honey Banana
Eastside Alchemy is a brand you might be familiar with on this website.
Their shit is 🔥 but it costs 💰.
Premium prices don’t always incidate premium products… but in this case they do.
In 2023, they could have almost coasted to this spot with just their MattyBStacker’s collaborations. But they did more than that.
It was actually their Tiger Cake, that first wow’d me from the brand. Truly some of the first rosin, where I stopped mid-smoke to appreciate the flavor.
Then there was the limited edition MattyBStacker’s Permanent Marker collabo that really solidified their spot here.
Eastside Alchemy is some of the most consistent rosin I’ve had. Their double-sealed pucks seem to really work as I’ve never had dry rosin from them.
Their collaborations are almost always noteworthy and worth seeking out.
The only downside to them is their pricepoint, which I can’t really knock them. If you provide some of the best product in the market, you can charge premium (look at 710 Labs).
I’m always interested in their latest collabos & hope they can keep the momentum for 2024!
