Review & Interview: BowHouse - Pink Runtz
By Gas & Middies
Today we are reviewing a brand that recently came on my radar: BowHouse.
We’re trying one of their in-house favorites: Pink Runtz.
Purchased at Quality Roots for $20.
I also got the chance to learn more about the brand with a little interview.
Be sure to check that out below.
BowHouse
There’s not a ton on the web about BowHouse. Besides that they are a craft grow, out of Lansing.
They do have a website and an Instagram page.
Luckily, we linked up on Instagram and I was able to snag an interview with them to learn more.
Without further ado:
Interview
Gas & Middies: Welcome! Can you start by telling us a little about yourself?
BowHouse: BowHouse is a group of cultivators and extractors with many years of experience in the current market and previously in the caregiver market. Everyone on our team brings their own skill set and knowledge. We use this combined experience to fine tune each step of our process.
Gas & Middie: What makes you guys different?
BowHouse: At BowHouse we are focused on quality. Every product we put out and produce we would enjoy ourselves. Our team works together and is constantly analyzing and implementing new ideas to continuously improve. Rather than rinse and repeat, we are always experimenting and trying to improve our process.
Gas & Middies: Any details about your grow? (location, size, seed or clone, soil or other, cure time, # of plants, works, etc)
BowHouse: Our grow is split into 8 flower rooms. By having smaller flower rooms it help us to control the climate better in each room. It also allows us to grow each strain in conditions that are specific to that strain. We have a 2000 plant Class C license and we are located in Lansing, MI.
Gas & Middies: Do you target taste when picking strains?
BowHouse: Taste and terpenes are very important to us when pheno hunting. Smoothness, affect, bag appeal and yield are also considered when selecting strains to grow.
Gas & Middies: What are your top selling strains?
BowHouse: Popz 41 and Pink Runtz seem to be our most in demand flavors at the moment.
Gas & Middies: Would you say you have a signature/trademark strain?
BowHouse: Not yet.
Gas & Middies: Biggest misconception in the industry?
BowHouse: That growing weed is easy. This is a job that requires our team to be available 365 days a year. Our entire team works hard year round to make sure every single harvest gets the same amount of attention to detail. The plants don’t take holidays or vacations. They come first and they get royal treatment.
Gas & Middies: What’s it mean to be a craft grower?
BowHouse: We actually grow products we smoke and are excited to share with others. We aren’t some giant grow that has mold or bugs with a bunch of remediated products just trying to make money. We take a lot of pride in having clean plants, a clean facility and putting out products we are proud to both share and enjoy with friends and family. Additionally all of our flower rooms are small batch, allowing us to fine tune the settings for the environment and feeds to meet the needs of each individual strain.
Gas & Middies: What’s the story on the name Bow House?
BowHouse: Our family friend actually helped us come up with the name. It’s based off of the slang word “Bow” for a pound of weed. We try to stay true to where we all got started in this industry and it’s simply Bow House for that reason.
Gas & Middies: Did you get your start in the caregiver market?
BowHouse: Many members of our cultivation team have more than 5+ years of growing experience in caregiver growing. Others have grown with their family or worked on farms. Every member of our cultivation team has experience in growing before we got together at BowHouse. For us it’s important to learn from others and use our combined knowledge to bring out the max potential from each strain and harvest.
Gas & Middies: I’ve tried probably a half a dozen strains of yours and they all taste amazing. How are you able to be so consistent in that aspect?
BowHouse: When we pheno hunt strains, we are only selecting and growing strains with either unique terpenes or exceptional taste. We try to produce strains that our team personally enjoys smoking. A strain with no terps will unfortunately be cut from the roster regardless of yield or THC percentage.
Gas & Middies: I’ve tried Pink Runtz from many growers, but yours is exploding with flavor. What’s the secret?
BowHouse: Genetics are always going to be the predominant factor in taste. Theres a lot of seeds and cuts floating around. Where you get your genetics is the most important thing for any grower. A person can name a strain anything they want, most unfortunately are not the real cut. After genetics the environment, dry and cure are the most important factors in taste. Terpenes are very sensitive, we spend a lot of time and money to make sure the temperatures/ humidities and environment during each stage are perfect in terpene development and preservation. Smaller steps like full fan leaf defoliation for harvest also play a role in the final product.
Gas & Middies: I consistently find your flower for around $20. How are you able to produce such quality at such a good price point?
BowHouse: The market is very competitive. When selecting strains to grow, yield is a very important factor. You cannot survive in this market if you are not maximizing yields. Efficiency is also very important to us. We turn rooms in 48 hours (harvest / deep clean/ bio foam/ restock / net / flip). The team also busts ass which helps us reduce wasted labor costs. All these factors help us reduce our cost to produce. Lastly we are constantly price shopping materials and ways to save money in order to remain competitive without reducing quality.
Gas & Middies: You guys are also in the concentrate space. Any standout strains there?
BowHouse: Our concentrate menu is always changing! We do a lot of in house extractions (using the material we produce to make extractions) as well as partnering with farms and buying material. We might be biased but we always recommend our in house strains. Due to batch sizes and testing costs we often mix strains when extracting. We match strains that have similar tastes and affects (sativa or indica). Almost every batch of concentrate is unique due to this process. Look out for the Pink Popz (pink runtz x Popz) that’s my personal favorite.
Gas & Middies: I see you are in the pre-pack as well as deli style space. Which one seems to sell better?
BowHouse: The pre-pack market is very competitive and we find the deli style flower is easier to move larger quantities. We try to take our best flower from the best batches and reserve that for the pre packs. Worth noting the variance is quite small and all the flower is very consistent in quality. We also find certain strains are more desirable as pre-pack. As we develop new strains and fine tune each run we plan on adding more pre packs and pre pack flavors.
Gas & Middies: Any drops to look out for in the future?
BowHouse: We have a strain called Candy Cartel that is Sherb Cream Pie x Biscotti we have been playing with a couple phenos now. The R&D batches tested over 30% and had some really crazy GMO gassy smells. We are very excited for the first harvest of that to come down. They seem to check every box from looks to smell and effect.
Pink Runtz
Testing at 28.28% THC and 32.43% total cannabinoids. These beautiful nugs absolutely reek of candy and gas. The flavor packs just as much of a punch as the THC and there’s no question why this our current in house favorite. 🍭💎⛽️🤩 - BowHouse - Instagram

This stuff smokes! 😮💨
Talk about flavor. From first to last puff, the sweet, funky, chemical concoction coats your mouth in it.
The nugs are sugar coated. It breaks down perfectly.
You think you know Runtz, but you have no idea. The terps on this are like nothing I’ve had before.
For the price, this sets the bar for value flower.
Runtz might be played out, but this is:
Gas ⛽
Outro
BowHouse may be new(er) to the scene, but they don’t miss!
I’ve tried this, Platnium Lemon Cherry Gelato, Barbie Runtz, Zkittlez x Gelato 44, & The Count. They all hit.
I’m glad I found this brand because for the price, they can’t be beat.
If you see this at your dispensary in prepack or deli style, be sure to give it a try.
What do you guys think?
Did they throw them bows?
Stay 😶🌫️
